Bicentennial Star Banner
An unofficial banner for the Indiana Bicentennial Star, adapted from the Indiana state flag, shows the constellation Pegasus around the torch of enlightenment. The star Scheat, depicted in the corner of the Great Square of Pegasus just under the state name, is 200 light years away. Its light, which left the star Scheat in 1816 when Indiana became a state, is just now reaching our eyes in 2016.
See Bicentennial Star for more about the celebration of night in the context of Indiana's 200th anniversary.
