Kemil Beach Stargazing-2025 Schedule
Monthly stargazing with telescopes resumes near Lake Michigan at Kemil Beach in the Indiana Dunes National Park. Members of Michiana Astronomical Society and other astronomy clubs in the tri-state area bring telescopes to observe the planets, the moon and deep sky objects and share the views with the attendees.

The events are held the first Saturday evenings every month, weather permitting, and are free and open to the public. Weather cancellations are often listed at http://www.michiana-astro.org.
The National Park writes about stargazing, "Although Indiana Dunes National Park is near urban areas, the lakeshore offers unexpectedly dark skies. Lake Michigan's massive footprint to the north keeps the sky near the lakefront much darker than surrounding areas."
All times listed are in the Central time zone.

The program will take place at the Kemil Parking Lot, near Beverly Shores, one of the Dark Sky Communities. That location is one of the darkest spots between Chicago and Michigan City. The address to plug into GPS is "Kemil Beach, Beverly Shores, IN 46304" or GPS Coordinates - 041.40.39N 087.00.35W.
