Six Clear Nights With Comet

A spate of good weather coincided with the appearance of Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, allowing me to photograph the celestial interloper over six consecutive nights. Even though the comet had to "compete with clouds, contrails, airplanes, Venus, Corona Borealis, and stars, while a 'supermoon' rises in the east," it was readily visible when photographed with a cell phone camera.

The red line in the series of six images aligns with the pair of reference stars, and each night the receding comet moved a bit higher as it headed into deep space.

On several nights the comet was visible to the naked eye, but only for brief stints when diffuse clouds weren't interfering.
